What is Monogenic Diabetes?

Monogenic diabetes encompasses a spectrum of disorders triggered by a single genetic mutation, including maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY) and neonatal diabetes, among others. This form of diabetes serves as a beacon of precision medicine within the diabetes field. Precise diagnosis of specific monogenic diabetes types enables healthcare providers to tailor treatment plans, offering alternatives such as oral medications in place of intensive insulin regimens.

Additionally, accurate diagnosis empowers us to provide essential medical guidance regarding the risk of diabetes in at-risk family members. With the advent of genomic medicine initiatives, we anticipate both an expansion in the number of identified monogenic diabetes cases and an augmentation of management options in the years to come.
We offer a wide range of services tailored to individuals suspected of having monogenic diabetes, including thorough clinical and genetic evaluations. Our expertise extends to the diagnosis and treatment of various forms of monogenic diabetes, such as maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY), neonatal diabetes, and others. Additionally, we provide ongoing medical care and support for individuals who have already received a diagnosis of monogenic diabetes.
