Personal Statement
I continually strive to increase access to high-quality care for families with diverse needs. I have participated in extensive hands-on training and continuing education courses to achieve specialized skills for working with patients in areas such as neonatal therapy, auditory-based speech services for hearing loss/cochlear implants, videofluoroscopic evaluation of swallowing, clinical evaluation and treatment of feeding-swallowing difficulties, tracheostomies/ventilator dependance, and Spanish language/bilingual speech services.
I have been a Speech Language Pathologist working with the families of infants and children with communication and feeding-swallowing difficulties since 2006. I have participated in the Texas Children’s upWORDS Baby and Toddler Program since serving as coordinator for its initial cohort in 2016, and I continue to educate families regarding this valuable resource as part of my regular hospital duties. I have been involved with the Texas Children’s Cochlear Implant Team since 2017. I also provide informational presentations on a range of topics such as neurodevelopmental care to parents and numerous staff members across Texas Children's departments and in the community. I have had the opportunity to provide speech evaluation and therapy services to families with children who have a variety of diagnoses and value the experience of working with them to target their unique goals.
