HOUSTON - (Oct. 25, 2012) - One of Houston's leading obstetrics and gynecology practices, The Women's Specialists of Houston, has completed its relocation to Texas Children's Pavilion for Women. This multi-specialty practice welcomes both preexisting and new patients to visit its offices on the fifteenth floor.

Acquired by Texas Children's Hospital in 2008, The Women's Specialists of Houston is an essential component of the hospital's overall initiative to care for a woman throughout her life, beginning before conception and continuing after delivery. In addition to comprehensive gynecologic and obstetrical services, The Women's Specialists of Houston also provides access to five nurse midwives certified by the American Midwife Certification Board. The unique offering of services by these midwives, in collaboration with the practice's physicians, provides an alternative care option for families in the community.

"It's a pleasure to welcome The Women's Specialists of Houston to their new offices at the Pavilion for Women," said Chanda Cashen, assistant vice president of Texas Children's Pavilion for Women. "This team of distinguished physicians, nurse midwives and staff excels at individualizing OB/GYN patient care throughout a woman's life."

The Women's Specialists of Houston focuses on supportive, family-centered maternity care. The practice consists of 11 OB/GYNs including Edward Yosowitz, M.D.; David Zepeda, M.D; Jonathan Espana, M.D.; Carla Ortique, M.D.; Kimberly Bobo, M.D.; Hilary Boswell, M.D.; Damla Karsan Dryden, M.D.; Wanda Thorton Mott, M.D.; Lindsey Longerot, M.D.; Codi Wiener, M.D.; and Cristina Perez, M.D. Other staff members include a nurse practitioner, Sara Dean; a physician assistant, Megan Mann; and certified midwives including Theodorah Defrancesco; Mary Hirschi; Titi Otunla; Deborah Rigby; and Dawn Short. The practice is accepting appointments by phone at 713-797-1144.

"We are delighted that this day has finally arrived," said Dr. Yosowitz, one of the practice's founding OB/GYNs. "We have always prided ourselves in providing high-quality personalized care to our patients. Being a part of the Pavilion for Women gives our patients unprecedented access to expertise, treatments and technologies that are at the forefront of women's healthcare."

The Women's Specialists of Houston joins the two other leading OB/GYN practices that are part of Texas Children's Pavilion for Women. Baylor Obstetrics and Gynecology is located on the third floor and Partners in OB/GYN Care is located on the seventh floor.

Situated in the heart of the Texas Medical Center, the 15-story Texas Children's Pavilion for Women is one of the few hospitals worldwide to offer a full spectrum of maternal and fetal medicine services including an array of fetal diagnostic procedures and highly specialized fetal surgeries. Level II and Level III NICU care is provided in 36 private rooms, four of which are specifically designed to accommodate multiples. A two-story circular sky bridge connects the Pavilion for Women to Texas Children's West Tower and Clinical Care facilities, enhancing patient care by providing physicians, staff and patient families with rapid access to all patient care facilities.
