Texas Children's Hospital West Campus names new leadership team

HOUSTON - (Feb.9, 2015) - Texas Children's Hospital West Campus is proud to announce Chanda Cashen Chac_n aspresident, Dr. Jeanine Graf as chief medical officer and Dr. Allen Milewicz aschief surgical officer of the hospital. Texas Children's Hospital West Campus, Houston's first communityhospital designed exclusively for children, was created to respond to thegrowing need for expert pediatric health care in West Houston, one of thecity's most rapidly expanding communities. The hospital offers expert care in alocation that is convenient and accessible for area families.

Chac_n, who most recently served asvice president of women's services at Texas Children's Pavilion for Women,completed her undergraduate degree at Vanderbilt University. She earned amaster's degree in public health from Yale University and joined TexasChildren's in 2002 as an administrative fellow.

Chac_n hasbeen a leader in the Texas Children's system for more than 12 years, with rolesin ambulatory operations, pharmacy, Texas Children's Heart Center, TexasChildren's Fetal Center and Women's Services. She played an integral role inthe successful preparation and execution of the Pavilion for Women by leadingthe design, start up and grand opening of the ambulatory sector.

Graf, who has been a pediatric intensive carephysician for more than 20 years and most recently served as medical directorof Texas Children's pediatric intensive care unit, earnedher undergraduate degree from St. Louis University and a medical degree from TheOhio State University College of Medicine. She completed her residency inpediatrics and a fellowship in pediatric critical care at Baylor College ofMedicine.

Graf, who also serves as an associate professor ofpediatrics-critical care at Baylor, has been a leader in the Texas Children'ssystem for more than 17 years, with roles including interim chief of pediatriccritical care and medical director of the Pediatric Intensive Care TransportProgram. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Societyof Critical Care Medicine.

"It is a privilege to help lead the team who will continue tobenefit the health of children and families in our community," says Graf.

As chief surgical officer, Milewicz, who is also an associateprofessor of pediatrics-surgery at Baylor, will be responsible for organizingTexas Children's surgery within the community, focusing on Texas Children'sHospital West Campus. Additionally, he will be working in conjunctionwith the entire Texas Children's Department of Surgery to optimize surgicalservice for patients, families and referring physicians.

"I look forward to expanding surgical services in thecommunity while ensuring that each patient receives the experience, expertiseand clinical outcomes for which Texas Children's is known," says Milewicz.

Board-certified bythe American Board of Pediatric Surgery, Milewicz received his undergraduatedegree from City College of New York and earned his medical degree from NewYork University School of Medicine. After completing his general surgeryresidency program at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, hewent on to pursue specialized training in pediatric surgery. Milewicz is also amember of the American Pediatric Surgery Association and a fellow of the AmericanCollege of Surgeons.
