Texas Children's Heart Center welcomes Dr. Lisa D'Alessandro

HOUSTON - (Jan.20, 2015) - Texas Children's Heart Center is excited to welcome pediatriccardiologist Dr. Lisa D'Alessandro. Texas Children's Heart Center is ranked #2nationally in cardiology and heart surgery by U.S. News World Report. Formore information visit texaschildrens.org/heart.

Penny, chief ofcardiology at Texas Children's Hospital and section head and professor ofpediatrics-cardiology at Baylor College of Medicine. D'Alessandro, whoalso serves as an associate professor of pediatrics at Baylor, completed herundergraduate degree at the University of Windsor in Ontario. She earned hermedical degree and did her residency training at Western University in London,Ontario. D'Alessandro completed her fellowship in pediatric cardiology at TheChildren's Hospital of Philadelphia, as well as a research fellowship incardiac genomics at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.

D'Alessandro'sclinical interests include cardiovascular genetics, inpatient and outpatientgeneral cardiology and echocardiography. Her research interests include the useof next-generation sequencing to understand the genetic causes of congenitalheart disease and factors that may influence prognosis, as well as the use ofnon-invasive prenatal genetic testing in the fetal heart population. D'Alessandrois a member of the American Heart Association, Canadian Cardiovascular Societyand Ontario Medical Association/Canadian Medical Association.
