HOUSTON – (August 04, 2021) – Dr. Rayne Rouce, hematologist/oncologist at Texas Children’s Cancer Center recently received the 2021 Outstanding Women in Science Award from the Association for Women in Science – Gulf Coast Houston.
“It is such an honor to be recognized as an Outstanding Woman in Science. The journey that many women take on their pathway to becoming a scientist and the roadblocks that arise are often both less traditional and unique,” said Rouce, who is also an assistant professor of pediatrics – hematology/oncology at Baylor College of Medicine. “AWIS recognizes the importance of telling these stories and honoring the women who have lived them and who aspire to inspire the women around them. I am proud to be acknowledged for my contributions to leukemia and lymphoma patient care research.”
Rouce was recognized for her clinical work with pediatric leukemia and lymphoma patients and her research on T-cell immunotherapy.
The Association for Women in Science is a national advocacy organization championing the interests of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) across all disciplines and employment sectors. At the national level, AWIS touts a membership of more than 3,500 individual members and 50 chapters and affiliate groups across the country.
Rouce also serves as associate dean of community engagement at Baylor and is actively involved in diversity and inclusion initiatives. She was honored at a ceremony July 7. To learn more about the Women in Science Award, click here.
