Dr. Peter Hotez recognized by Fortune Magazine as leader in health care

HOUSTON – (April 24, 2017) – Dr. Peter Hotez, dean of the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital Endowed Chair in Tropical Pediatrics, has been named one of Fortune Magazine’s “34 Leaders Who Are Changing Health Care.” 

“I’m excited to be recognized for our work at the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine to combat neglected tropical diseases in Houston, throughout the state of Texas and on the U.S. Gulf Coast, as well as in areas of extreme poverty globally,” said Hotez. “Today our faculty at Baylor and Texas Children’s Hospital are making the next generation of vaccines and diagnostics through our Texas Children’s Center for Vaccine Development.”

Recognized for his work in research and advocacy, Hotez is a world-renowned expert in neglected tropical diseases, the most common diseases affecting the world’s poor. Hotez founded the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in 2011.
