Texas Children's Hospital welcomes seven new otolaryngologists

HOUSTON – (Oct. 7, 2015) – The recent appointments of seven new otolaryngologists at Texas Children's Hospital greatly improves the ability of the Division of Otolaryngology to serve patients in the Greater Houston area. "We will have the largest pediatric otolaryngology group in the country with the appointments of these new faculty members. They are a highly trained and extremely diverse group of seven otolaryngologists, who trained at six different fellowship programs. They are joining an outstanding group of 14 pediatric otolaryngologists," said Dr. Ellis Arjmand, chief of otolaryngology at Texas Children’s and professor in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine.  


The new additions to Texas Children’s team are:


• Dr. Daniel Chelius Jr., was most recently in private practice in Houston's western suburbs. He performed his residency in otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine and his fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at Children's Mercy Hospital, the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.

He was an assistant professor of Pediatric Otolaryngology at Children's Mercy Hospital, which is also affiliated with the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, Kansas City, Missouri. Chelius will see patients at Texas Children’s Cy-Fair Health Center, as well as the hospital’s main campus in the medical center. He has been appointed assistant professor in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Baylor.

• Dr. Charles Hughes was an associate professor and chief of pediatric otolaryngology at Georgia Regents University, Medical College of Georgia, and director of the Georgia Children's Airway Center and the Pediatric Vascular Anomalies Center at the Children's Hospital of Georgia before joining Texas Children's Hospital. He performed his residency at Georgetown University Medical Center and fellowships at Johns Hopkins Hospital and at Children's Memorial Hospital, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

When Texas Children's Hospital The Woodlands opens in 2017, Hughes will lead its otolaryngology service. In the interim, he will be seeing patients at The Woodlands and Cy-Fair Health Centers. Hughes has also been appointed an associate professor in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Baylor.

• Dr. Elton Lambert joins Texas Children's after completing a pediatric otolaryngology fellowship at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He completed his residency at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.

Lambert will be seeing patients at Texas Children’s Cy-Fair Health Center, as well as the hospital’s main campus in the medical center. He has also been appointed an assistant professor in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Baylor.

• Dr. Carol Liu was most recently a fellow in the Division of Otolaryngology at Texas Children's Hospital. She performed her residency in otolaryngology at University Hospitals of Cleveland Case Medical Center.

In addition to the hospital’s main campus, Liu will see patients at Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus and Texas Children’s Cy-Fair Health Center. She has also been appointed an assistant professor in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Baylor.

• Dr. Deepak Mehta joins Texas Children's Hospital from the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, Division of Pediatric Otolaryngology, where he was director of the Aerodigestive Program. He was also associate professor of Otolaryngology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Mehta performed his residency at So. Trent Otolaryngology Programme at Nottingham, UK, and a pediatric otolaryngology fellowship at Cincinnati Children's Hospital and Medical Center.

Mehta will see patients at Texas Children’s Sugar Land Health Center, as well as the hospital’s main campus in the medical center. Mehta has also been appointed associate professor in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Baylor.

• Dr. Shraddha Mukerji joins Texas Children’s Hospital from The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston where she was an assistant professor in the Department of Otolaryngology. She performed postgraduate training in otolaryngology and head and neck surgery at both Seth G.S. Medical College and King Edward VII Memorial Hospital in Mumbai.

Mukerji will be seeing patients at Texas Children's Sugar Land Health Center, as well as Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus. She has also been appointed as assistant professor in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Baylor.  

• Dr. Tara Rosenberg joins Texas Children’s Hospital from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences where she was a fellow in pediatric otolaryngology and received advanced training in the treatment of head and neck vascular anomalies. She performed her residency in otolaryngology at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine.

Rosenberg will see patients at Texas Children’s Sugar Land Health Center, as well as the hospital’s main campus in the medical center. She has also been appointed assistant professor in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Baylor.
