Preparing for Delivery
There's a lot to plan for during pregnancy. And Texas Children's Hospital, along with St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital, is here to help. Here are some resources to
help you prepare for labor, delivery and beyond.
Tours
Before you deliver, visit us for a free tour. Tours are offered every Saturday (excluding holiday weekends) at 2 p.m. Every tour begins at the St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital Admitting Office, located on the first floor across from McDonald's near the yellow elevators. Download this map for more directions to St. Luke's, including where to park.
Please do not bring children on the tour.
Finding a Doctor
If you want to deliver with Texas Children's
and St. Luke's, you'll want to make sure your doctor has
privileges at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital. If you are looking
for a physician, you may contact
The Women's Specialists of Houston at Texas Children's Hospital
or the Baylor College of
Medicine OB/GYN, both of which are affiliated with Texas Children's
Hospital and have physicians and midwives who deliver at St.
Luke's.
Pre-registration
We encourage you to pre-register with the Admitting/Discharge office at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital as early in your pregnancy as possible. If you take the tour of St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital and plan to deliver with us, you will also have the option to pre-register at the end of the tour.

Texas Children's Hospital offers classes about pregnancy, parenthood, childbirth, breastfeeding and more. Click on the links below for:
Your Birth Preference Plan
Family-centered maternity care is about honoring your choices.
Your birth preference plan is a living document that will help guide you and your support team to achieve your ideal birth experience. It can be changed at any time – before or during labor. Remember to bring several copies with you when come to the hospital for delivery.
Choosing a Pediatrician
Finding the right pediatrician for your child is an important decision. The physicians at Texas Children's Pediatric Associates (TCPA) – Texas Children's Hospital's affiliated pediatricians – want to begin building a relationship with you before your baby is even born. Many Texas Children's Pediatric Associates physicians offer free consultations to expectant parents so that your child can
have expert care from day one.
To learn more, visit the TCPA Web site, or call the physician referral line at 832-824-7700.
Car Seats
Current Texas law requires that all children under the age of
8, or shorter than 4'9" tall, must ride in a car safety seat that is used according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Texas Children’s Center for Childhood Injury Prevention, in partnership with the Safe Kids Greater Houston Coalition, provides car seat safety check-ups by appointment in the Texas Medical Center and 14 other Houston locations.
To schedule your free appointment or to get more information, visit the
Center for Childhood Injury Prevention, or call 832-828-1318.
