The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile is a fully equipped medical clinic in a customized motor coach. It travels to schools in the Greater Hobby Airport area of Southeast Houston. The clinic gives free medical care to children from newborn to age 18 who do not have health insurance. Children do not have to attend the school where the bus is parked to receive care.

Ronald McDonald Care Mobile provides free:
- Well-child and illness examinations
- Vaccinations and immunizations (shots)
- Non-emergency care
- Help applying for public health insurance, such as Medicaid, CHIP and Harris County Gold Card
- Referrals to medical and social services as needed
- Health care and nutrition education for children and families
- Referrals to permanent and trusted medical home
- Helping families get the help they need
- The clinic travels with a bilingual staff, including a Texas Children’s pediatrician, pediatric nurse practitioner, licensed vocational nurse and medical assistant. Community volunteers also help.

Well-child checkups require appointments. Ill visits and vaccinations do not require appointments.

History
Ronald McDonald Care Mobile was donated to Texas Children’s Hospital in January 2006 to benefit the medically underserved children in Houston. The clinic is funded entirely through donations to Texas Children’s. Ronald McDonald Care Mobile had 7,904 patient visits between January 2006 and May 2008.
